Vacuum Insulated Pipe (VIP) Bayonet Connections
There are many options when it comes to connections for Vacuum Insulated Piping Systems. The most popular and most efficient options are vacuum insulated field can joints and bayonet connections (also known as a Johnston Couplings). CryoWorks offers a Close Tolerance (CT), F-Series, Linde CB7 Helium and HQK Hydrogen bayonet options. These connections must be placed strategically to allow for transportation and installation at your facility.
Close Tolerance (CT)
Our Close Tolerance (CT) bayonet connections have a low-profile flange to simplify installation allowing pipes to slide through hangers and supports easily. This low profile also decreases core hole diameters and required sealant.
Ideal For: Inert Gases
F-Series (Flange) Bayonet Connection
The F-Series bayonet connections are high efficiency cryogenic couplings designed for vacuum insulated piping systems. CryoWorks has developed a proprietary treating process that provides long-term dimensional stability and allows for a closer tolerance fit that provides best in class thermal performance.
Ideal for: LH2, LN2, LOX, and LNG
Linde CB7 Series
The Linde CB7 series bayonet is designed for Liquid Helium applications, but is also used in nitrogen, oxygen (with proper cleaning and seal material) and argon. Available in four thermal lengths: 3″ to interchange with existing Linde installations, 6″, 9″, and 15″ to fit most thermal and physical criteria.
Ideal For: Helium Applications
Linde HQK Series
The Linde HQK bayonet connection consists of a male and female connector that can be easily installed without any field welding or unique training. With its’ noseseal design, the HQK bayonet is ideal for hydrogen filling applications for connections on Trailer Hoses, Tankers, and Transport Vessels.
Ideal For: Hydrogen Applications
Vacuum Insulated Field Can Joint
Vacuum Insulated Field Can Joints are used in place of bayonet connections when the pressure ratings of the piping system exceed that of standard bayonet connections as well as in larger bore piping systems when bayonets are not cost effective or available. CryoWorks can also accommodate vacuum insulated field can joints at tees, elbows, and valves. Installation can be completed by any certified welder trained in cryogenic and vacuum installations.
